India Maritime Week (IMW), the largest maritime conference and exhibition in the country, is back. We will be hosting the second edition of IMW in Delhi from January 28 to Feb1, 2014.
Preparations for the event are underway. Considering that an event of this scale needs careful planning and execution, we decided to draw a blueprint for the same as far back as January this year. We also released the event brochure in April in Mumbai, during Gateway Media awards. That was the official announcement of the event and it was done by Capt PVK Mohan, Chairman, National Shipping Board. We have also set up an advisory council, comprising eminent members from the maritime fraternity, who will advise us and help ensure the mission is successful.
The first edition of the IMW was hugely successful in bringing together the entire shipping industry under one roof to deliberate and decide the future course of India’s maritime trade. During the first edition of the summit, a conclusive report was prepared by the organising committee, making recommendations to the Ministry of Shipping for steps to be taken to sustain the growth momentum of India’s shipping industry.
This year round, we expect the stalwarts of the sector along with policy makers to put in their thinking caps yet again to gauge the response of the ministry and create another report for the industry. And, be ready to be a part of this event as we get ready to write a new chapter in India’s maritime history.
